GPS Leads to Arrest of Bank Robbers.

So, I think that technology innovation is awesome. Nearly every form of innovation, really. Although, when it comes to money, that’s when the big dogs come out to play. Forget the lame ass dye packs of the 90′s. A bank in Illinois recently had about 9 grand stolen from them. Thing was two of the bundles of cash had GPS trackers in them.

I think that was a damn smart idea. Here is my issue though, Wired.com reported on it and told them how long it took them to actually pinpoint the robbers. To the minutes. So if I ever decided to rob a bank, I know now to look for dye packs before I leave, and GPS trackers after I’m out.

2010 Resolution.

So I’ve made a resolution for myself. It’s nothing too hard, but nothing completely simple either. I’ve decided to give up soda for one whole year. So starting from today, January 1st, 2010, and ending January 1st, 2011, I will ingest no more soda. I haven’t decided if I want to do just water, or if juices and tea is something I’d be okay with. I’ll more than likely just stick to water. I can never find a “real” tea that I enjoy without loading up with sugar and milk.

So here we go people. I’ll be keeping track of how I do over the course of the year. I’ll monitor my weight and junk and we’ll see how well I do after the first month. Maybe after the first month I can give something else up and gradually work my way into a healthy lifestyle. Or not. I don’t know haha.

Funny People.

Staring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan

So I know the movie came out quite some time ago, but I just had the chance to sit down and watch it on DVD. Media Gallery was running a special on used movies and it seemed like something I’d be interested in seeing.

The cast couldn’t have been better! Adam Sandler and Seth Rogan rocked it! They play off each other so well, and Seth Rogan wasn’t the stoner/idiot type in this film. Which was a refreshing thing to see.

I thought the movie was hilarious. They had a great cast and fantastic plot. I feel like the ending was a it lacking though. The movie led up to this very interesting climax and just kind of slumped down the last hill. I would give the movie a solid 9 our of 10. It’s a movie you’re going to want to see, and not just once, this is the kind of movie where you can watch it multiple times. A lot of that is due to the emotional tug it has on you.

Go watch the movie. You won’t regret it.

Thanks.

Julie and Julia.

This movie wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Quite frankly, I have a crazy crush on Meryl Streep but seeing her with that God awful accent made me want to shoot myself. It was a decent movie with an amazing plot and actors, but I just found the whole movie to be somewhat lacking. As if it was a drag to get myself through the entire movie. Stanley Tucci is another one of my favorite actors, but he seems to play the same role in every movie, that being calm, cool, and collected. Although he plays it well, it would be nice to see him casted as something a bit more exciting.

All in all, I’d give Julie and Julia a 8.5 out of 10. Something worth checking out, but nothing I’d have waited for the midnight release of.

Thanks.

It’s Been Awhile.

Sorry I’ve been so distant as of late, guys, but there has been a lot of stuff going on right now with me, my family, my work and so on. It’s been hard to get some time to actually sit down and write something that I found to be worthwhile. There were a few posts but nothing that I figured anyone would want to read.

So now I’ve come back to announce some good news! Well, sorta… I’m going to start posting again! Like, seriously posting. More reviews, more news articles, more stuff about my daily life, and a new addition to my blog will be in the form of video reviews. Mostly YouTube inserts, but something to go along with the article I’ve written.

A lot of the stuff that I’ll be reviewing within the next few months will be shisha. For those of you that aren’t familiar, that is tobacco that is covered in molasses and flavorings that is meant to be smoked from a hookah. If all goes well, I should be getting my first, of perhaps many, hookah in March of 2010. A birthday gift of epic proportions.

So stay tuned for some new posts and please, please, PLEASE comment my blog with some suggestions about what you think I should be doing differently or just giving me some encouragement! Let me know what you think about this blog, and I’ll be sure to let you know that I’m thankful.

Thanks, guys.

Finals Week.

It’s been stressful enough, but now I have one less final to take. My American Politics final went well. I think. I knew about 80% of the questions, so I’m hoping I got an 80 or higher. If I fail that class, I’ll just feel like an ass hat haha. Starbucks is a happening place on campus today. I guess people need their caffeine fix before classes, which I can understand. I’m more of a tea and muffin kinda guy. Speaking of, I feel very cliche’ today haha. Listening to Battle Studies and hanging out in a coffee shop with my Macbook :P

Chai tea lattes, John Mayer, and crowds of people compose my Monday morning. What about yours?

Thanks.

Hookah and What You Should Know About It.

First and foremost, yes it is bad for you. It’s not good for your lungs, or any other part of your body for that matter. Though you know what else isn’t good for you? Coffee, tea, soda, candy, or High Fructose Corn Syrup. Yet these are things that are found in foods we put in our body every single day.

There was a study released recently stating the following: “Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a marker found in several forms of cancer. Levels in exclusive hookah smokers were lower compared to cigarette smokers although the difference was not statistically significant. Also the study concluded that heavy hookah smoking (2–4 daily preparations; 3–8 sessions a day ; >2 hrs to ≤ 6 hours) substantially raises CEA levels.”

For those of us that aren’t doctors, that basically means that you would have to smoke 3 to 8 times a day for a minimum of 2 hours and up to, but not exceeding, 6 hours. A day. Smoke 3 times for 2 hours a day?! Are you kidding me?! No one does that. Not even the avid hookah fan does that. They may, at best, smoke 2 times in one day for 2 hours each. That’s nowhere near the amount of time needed to raise CEA levels!

As mentioned before, smoking Shisha, the flavored-tobacco, inside of the hookah is bad for you. If you think for one second that inhaling smoke isn’t bad for you, then you need not smoke hookah. While it is bad for you, it’s not nearly as detrimental as smoking cigarettes or drinking alcohol.

Everything in proportion, people. Everything. Too much calcium is bad for you, but no one tells you to cut back on your milk intake, do they? Too much of anything makes it a bad thing, and when it turns bad you better believe you’ll get harassed for doing that too. Take the time to research for yourself, and make a decision based on how you feel, not how your parents or health-food-nutjobs tell you to feel.

Thanks.

The Kooks Cover Kids (MGMT)

If you’ve not already heard of MGMT, then you must be living under a rock that has awful wifi signal. They’re a hippy jam band-ish group. Pretty good stuff if you’re under the influence of something. The Kooks, being equally as awesome, did a cover of MGMTs’ fist single, Kids. Here is a video. Let me know what you think!

Thanks.

Semesters Over!

It’s about time! With the exception of the busy break I have, it’s gonna be awesome. I’m watching a kid go treat-or-treating for ears on Grey’s Anatomy. I think I’ve lost my man card….

Thanks! Happy Holidays!

Football!

Steelers lost to the browns. Unexpected, but good never the less.

Wish i could have watched it. NFL needs to find way to let users watch the games without buying the NFL network channel. An iphone/blackberry/android app, a hulu-like site, hell I would pay for a totally separate box to hook up to my tv if i could watch all NFL games
